The double exhibition “Untitled: Tal R, Daniel Richter” continues the creative dialogue between the two artists, spanning over two decades. As friends and collaborators, they engage in an artistic exchange driven by curiosity, emotion, and humor. As Tal R playfully puts it: “We don’t inspire each other, we steal from each other.”

Both artists are currently grappling with words. “These days force us to either elaborate extensively or be quiet,” says Richter. “Some of the work is based on shared ideas or memories,” he notes, “also dealing with confusion somehow. It’s hard to say anything.” Tal R adds: “It’s strange making work and not knowing if the space will still be there to show it.”

Each gallery features a distinct selection of new paintings and drawings, offering a glimpse into the artists’ response to current times. The ongoing artistic dialogue between them unfolds within each space, as well as in the conversation between the two galleries.

About the Artists

Tal R (b. 1967, Israel) works across various media, including painting, drawing, print, textiles, and sculpture. He challenges perceptions of reality and meaning, often using vibrant colors and seemingly childlike imagery. He frequently refers to the Hebrew word “kolbojnik” (leftovers) to describe his practice of sourcing imagery from both high and low culture.

Daniel Richter (b. 1962, Germany), whose roots lie in the 1980s punk scene and alternative movements, is known for his large-scale painting inspired by mass media and contemporary culture. He argues that the dichotomy between abstract and figurative painting is artificial, as the formal problem of color and composition remain constant in both.
