Degenerate Art Lives
Oct 26 – Dec 10, 2011
Karl Haendel, Thomas Zipp, Yale Bartana
The departure point for this group exhibition is a video work by Yael Bartana titled Degenerate Art Lives, in which a drawing of Otto Dix- featured in the first Degenerate Art Exhibition in Germany (1937) – comes to life through the powerful use of animation and sound. The video provides a gripping conceptual opus that reflects on the devastating consequences of war, while at the same time celebrating modernism and its prevalence in contemporary culture.
