Good Cement
Apr 17 – Jul 19, 2026
Tsibi Geva, Nahum Tevet, Yitzhak Golombek, Nurit David
The exhibition Good Cement presents an eclectic selection of process-based, experimental, and collaborative works, alongside works discovered in the back of the studio and reworked anew, by four artists: Tsibi Geva, Nahum Tevet, Yitzhak Golombek, and Nurit David. The exhibition is shown across two neighboring spaces: Hanina Gallery, an artists’ cooperative, and Sommer Gallery, which represents leading artists from both the local and the international scenes.
The four artists, born in the 1940s and 1950s, are among the central figures of the middle generation of contemporary Israeli art. Their work has been researched and exhibited in numerous museums in Israel and abroad, and many of them are renowned teachers who have influenced generations of artists. Although there are certain similarities in their biographical backgrounds – and at times a general affinity in materials or artistic language – these are four very different artists, who represent no category other than themselves.
What they share is a surprising and poetic disruption of the basic assumptions of modern art, achieved through the combination of elements drawn from different realms, ranging from meticulous precision to wild, boundless, collage-like approaches. In this exhibition, the works of the artists intermingle, infusing paintings, sculptures, drawings, and objects with a unique beauty drawn from the very heart of Israeli postmodernism – the result of friction between universal and local systems, political and visual alike.
Over the years, the four artists have crossed paths professionally and personally, and at times their works echo one another’s ideas, forms, and working methods. Yet they have never exhibited together until now. This exhibition is the outcome of a curatorial dialogue in motion, evolving between the four vertices of the group and the two exhibition spaces.
