Guy Ben-Ner’s exhibition in Project Room S2 features a video entitled Second Nature. The video was made for the 2008 Liverpool Biennial and depicts a fox and crow reenacting Aesop’s ancient fable of the Fox and the Raven with the help of their trainers. What transpires is an investigation into the power relations between the participants – the animals, trainers, and the director (the artist himself). Who is the master and under what circumstances is his power absolute? All the while, Samuel Beckett’s play “Waiting for Godot” provides an absurdist and existential subtext.
